Support your local or regional animal shelter with a special page or section devoted to finding homes for their furry residents.
Directions:
1.) Run a banner page or special section highlighting the service to the community that the animal shelter does to provide care and find homes for unwanted animals.
2.) Target all retailers carrying pet supplies, including pet stores, grocery stores, large drug chains, mass merchandisers, farm and feed suppliers, pet groomers, veterinarians, civic organizations. Each retailer/business can sponsor a particular cat with their sponsorship listed next to a picture of the pet. Name each pet to make the presentation more personal and appealing.
3.) Run accompanying stories and articles on the services provided by the animal shelters, statistics on unwanted pets, how to be a responsible pet owner, requirements to adopt from your local shelter, etc. Information and statistics can be found on the Humane Society’s website.
Alternative:
1.) Run a promotion featuring the service to the community that the animal shelter does to provide care and find homes for unwanted animals.
2.) Target all retailers carrying pet supplies, including pet stores, grocery stores, large drug chains, mass merchandisers, farm and feed suppliers, pet groomers, veterinarians, civic organizations. Each retailer/business can sponsor a particular cat. Tag their spot with information on one particular cat needing a home, i.e. color, breed, personality, age, etc. Name each pet to make the presentation more personal and appealing.
3.) Run accompanying stories on the local news on the services provided by the animal shelters, statistics on unwanted pets, how to be a responsible pet owner, care of pets in hot weather, requirements to adopt from your local shelter, etc. Be sure to report to the public on how many cats were placed in homes as a result of the Promotion and sponsorship of your advertisers.
