There seem to be a variety of theories on why and how April Fool’s Day became part of our popular culture and traditions. Whatever the reasons, it has become a day for pranks and practical jokes. Businesses can also use it as a special event advertising promotion.
Directions:
1.) Prepare a banner page with April Fool as a theme.
2.) Any retailer, service provider, and/or restaurant would make good targets for an April Fool promotion. One-day or weekend coupon offers would be a good way for the advertisers to use this event and be able to monitor the response to the advertising at the same time. Overstock can be featured as “The Joke’s On Me” theme in ads.
3.) Run the page just prior to April 1. Encourage the advertisers to participate in offering a prize package to those who submit a coupon during the given time period.

Alternative:
1.) Promote an April Fool’s “Joker’s Wild” or “No Fooling” Giveaway package to customers signing up through one of the advertisers. A good grand prize for the Joker theme can be an overnight trip to an area casino, trip to Las Vegas, etc.
