Basketball tournament time is a great time for a promo. Use the events to sponsor a contest requiring the entrants to find the scores of select games within the borders of your advertisers ads in the sports section or special basketball section of the paper for a specified length of time. When the given time is up, the entries are sent to the paper. Draw a grand prize winner from the correct entries.

1) Targets for sponsoring advertisers are all usual advertisers in the sports section, plus any local restaurants, clothing stores, sports arenas, insurance agencies, sports medicine clinics or rehab facilities, and any other local retail or service business in your community.
2) Run the layout the week preceding the days the scores will appear in the ads. Your prize package can vary from tickets to high school contests plus cash expense money, season tickets to next year’s games, college regional travel packages, or a weekend with NBA tickets package, depending on the venue you want to promote and the resulting size of the award. Appropriate second and third prizes would be official basketballs, team jerseys, etc.
