The Beatle’s proclaimed this week to be “National Apple Week” in 1965 when they launched their Apple recording label. Honor the 32nd anniversary of this proclamation with a Beatle trivia contest run during “National Apple Week”.
Procedure:
1. Design a promotion where readers can win a prize by answering trivia questions about the Beatles during the week of August 11 - 18.
2. Solicit music stores, memorabilia retailers, book stores, department stores, restaurants, and local sports teams, etc. to take part in the promotion. When pricing the sponsors participation include the cost of promotion, prizes and the sponsors ads.
3. Announce the promotion in the paper the week before it begins. Let readers know that they can win prizes with their knowledge of Beatles’ trivia. Inform them that a trivia quiz will be published in the paper during “National Apple Week”. List the sponsors of the contest and what prizes will be awarded in the announcement. Have each sponsor provide a prize for a winner. The more sponsors you have the more prizes and winners you will have.
4. Run a page with Beatles’ trivia questions in the center of the page. Under the trivia quiz include an entry form for participants to fill out. Have readers send their entries to the paper for judging. Choose winner’s from the pool of correct entries.
5. Place sponsor’s ads around the quiz area.
6. Run the page during “National Apple Week”, August 11 - 18.
